It has been optically identified with a V=15 mag object which shows no optical eclipses. The X-ray and optical periodicity at 113 min, and the presence of a strong blackbody component strongly supports the AM Her nature. The ROSAT spectrum also clearly show the well-known bremsstrahlung component, whose temperature, however, cannot be constrained. We ask for a 80 ksec ASCA observation of this new, bright AM Her variable in order to 1) determine the temperature of the hard component and the corresponding white dwarf mass, 2) approach the soft X-ray problem by measuring the hard X-ray flux accurately.
