One way to address this problem is to observe small group of galaxies which can contain hot gas ejected from just one elliptical galaxy. NGC4104 group is the best object which satisfy following conditions. (1) grope has just one giant elliptical and there is no interaction to other member (2)dust emission of this elliptical is well measured so that we can estimate stellar mass loss ratio (3)there are measurements on abundance of stellar component, thus we can calculate total amount of heavy elements ejected by given stellar mass loss ratio.
