Initial Einsten and ROSAT data indicate a soft/hard X-ray ratio near 100. The ASCA determination of the correct T distribution and flux for the hard X-ray flux will further understanding of the accretion process and the energy balance. The observed Fe, S, Ar line ratios of the brighter source (AR UMa) can be used to obtain the shock and white dwarf temperatures, and ultimately, the mass of the underlying white dwarf.
