THE OBSERVATION OF THE SMC SOURCE CROWDED REGION

ABSTRACT

We propose an ASCA long-term observation of the southwest region of the SMC. At this region, a supergiant HI shell (SGS) is crossing the main body of the SMC, and there are many attractive X-ray sources. The purposes are, (1)to detect coherent pulsations from three pulsar candidates, (2)to monitor four known pulsars, (3)to search undetected transient sources, (4)to make systematic analyses of thermal SNRs, and (5)to reveal the relation between distribution of the X-ray sources and the SGS.
