XRS achieved 60mK
At 23:26 JST July 26, we started the operation of an adiabatic
demagnetization refrigerator (ADR) of the X-ray spectrometer
experiment (XRS). And at around 1:10JST July 27 when Suzaku came back
over Uchinoura Space Center, we confirmed that the XRS was cooled down
to 60 milli-degrees Kelvin (60mK) or -273.09 degrees centigrade. This
is the lowest temperature artifically achieved in space so far. We
also confirmed that the XRS is operating properly.
