Title: OBSERVATION OF THE MIDDLE AND THE OUTER LOBE OF CENTAURUS A

Abstract:
We propose to observe the middle lobe and the outer lobe of Cen A with 2 pointings.
Of large area of Cen A outer lobes, we selected 2 fields, one of which is the middle
lobe peak and the other is the outer lobe edge. Einstein detected the X-ray excess
in the middle lobe regions, while ROSAT discovered the arc-shaped, rim-brightening
X-ray excess from the N edge of the outer lobe. So, we want to determine the origins
of these X-ray excesses by analyzing the X-ray spectra of both regions. At the same
time, it is also expected to detect the inverse-Compton X-rays scattering off the
CMB photons from the outer lobe itself. By comparing the inverse-Compton X-rays flux
and the synchrotron radio flux, we can determine the magnetic field strength in the outer lobe without any assumptions.
